Bitcoin dominance measures Bitcoin's share of the total cryptocurrency market cap. A rising dominance means capital is flowing into BTC relative to altcoins — a sign investors prefer BTC's relative safety.
What is Altcoin Season?
Altcoin Season occurs when the majority of the top 100 cryptocurrencies outperform Bitcoin over a given period. An index above 75 signals altcoins are leading; below 25 means Bitcoin is dominant.
How is the index calculated?
We check how many of the top 100 coins (by market cap, excluding BTC, stablecoins, and wrapped BTC) had a higher 90-day price return than Bitcoin. The result is expressed as a 0–100 score using established methodology — updated hourly from live market data.
